City of Riviera Beach To Celebrate 95th Birthday With Historic Community Event

On Sept. 29, the City of Riviera Beach will turn 95 years old. This milestone anniversary will be commemorated with a huge celebration for residents and employees on Sat., Sept. 30. The festivities will be held at Dan Calloway Amphitheater (1420 W 10th Street, Riviera Beach, Florida 33404) from 3 p.m.-12 a.m. The event will feature a family-friendly environment, local acts and performances, food and wares vendors, a kid zone and a Riviera Beach-centered historical exhibit that highlights the founders of Riviera Beach, the city’s oldest living resident and the oldest running business in Riviera Beach.

This event is the debut of the new event series called A Taste of Riviera Beach. Event organizer Tracy Thomas of Stellar Marketing & Business Solutions says, “The Taste of Riviera Beach event series is the brainchild of Tyron Hanna.” Hanna is the founder and CEO of Thrive For A Change, a non-profit, ex-felon re-entry program based in Riviera Beach. When he and Thomas collaborated on the idea, they bought on Marian Dozier of TYS Media and created a volunteer organizing committee to make the series come to fruition.

“It was just a coincidence that the city’s 95th birthday was on the date that we wanted to kickoff the event series.” Thomas says. With this information, the trio approached Riviera Beach City Manager Jonathan Evans with the idea. “Mr. Evans thought it was a great idea to celebrate the city’s anniversary with a milestone event.” Thomas says.

Advanced tickets for the birthday celebration are $10, and include a free drink ticket. Sales for advanced online tickets are available at www.rbtastefest.net, and will end on Sept 28. Tickets at the gate are $15, and children under the age of eight are granted free admission. Vendor and sponsorship opportunities are still available. Email info@rbtastefest.net or call 561-902-1669 for more information.

The Taste of Riviera Beach series will feature uniquely themed events that will take place on the fourth Saturday of every other month at different locations around Riviera Beach. To learn more about A Taste of Riviera Beach visit www.rbtastefest.net.
